Terms
- Compulsory insurance
- The legal obligation to hold certain cover — in Germany, for example, health insurance and motor third-party liability.
- eVB number
- Electronic confirmation of insurance. It is issued by an insurer and is usually required for vehicle registration.
- Deductible
- The share of a loss you carry yourself. The amount and how it applies depend on the tariff.
- Insurance broker
- An intermediary acting on behalf of the client, as opposed to an agent representing a single insurer.
- Commission
- The remuneration an insurer pays the broker when a contract comes into effect.
- Underwriting rules
- An insurer's internal rules for deciding whether and on what terms an application is accepted.
